What Is the EDT Programme?
Essential Driver Training (EDT) is the 12-lesson programme required by the Road Safety Authority before you can sit your driving test. It has been mandatory since 2011.
Each lesson covers a specific skill: car controls, road positioning, roundabouts, motorway driving, night driving, and more. Our 12-lesson package covers the full EDT at the lowest per-lesson rate.
If you hold a foreign licence and are converting to an Irish licence, you may qualify for the reduced 6-lesson programme. Call us on 021 2355558 and we will confirm which applies to you.
Pricing Questions
Manual driving lessons start from €49.00 per lesson with the 12-lesson EDT package (€587.95 total). A single manual lesson costs €53.27. Automatic lessons start from €54.94 per lesson.

The pretest package includes a one-hour lesson on your actual test route plus car hire for the driving test itself. Manual pretest costs €183.63, automatic costs €193.81. You take the test in the same car you practised in.
